December 31, 2009

My dearest Ellie,

Oh, how I miss you so much.  Your chatter, your big beautiful eyes looking up at me, your curls.  Sitting at your desk working on your crafts.  Your beautiful and creative mind at work. The copious amounts of drawings and letters that you give me each day.  This year, 2009, has seen many changes for us, and for you.  I know they are not easy for you, but you are so strong, and have handled them all so well.  You have a fantastic ability to find opportunity and adventure in every situation.  I admire that trait in you.  One that I wish I shared.  One that will serve you well in life.

The radio is still playing in your room, just as you left it.  I cannot bring myself to turn it off.  You turned it on when you were here last because it made you comfortable.  I hear it at night, I listen to it now, and can’t help but think of you.

Snowy runs away most every day, looking for you.  She misses you.  We both miss you.

We will both see more changes and adjustments throughout 2010.  I am fortunate to have you by my side, your hand in mine, as we tackle each and every challenge.  We will take on this year together, Ellie.  You and me.  Together.

I love you.
Dad

Tears Of A Lonely Moon

Tears of a Lonely Moon
Jesse J. Larrabee

The tears of a lonely moon
From a broken heart they fall.
A lover lost, but never forgot.
Become the rain, life for us all.

A broken heart that was split in two.
As true lovers part.
The same as me and you.

The love that cannot be.
The one that shouldn't exist.
God played a hand in our fate.
Each other we couldn't resist.

The moon looks down from above,
As they walk in pairs through the rain.
Watching the children fall into love,
Trying not to feel the pain.

The best he can do from this distance,
Is to keep her warm.
Is to keep her safe.
Given her joy, and a memory to cherish.

Watching as his light brightens her smile.
Unable to touch.  Unable to talk.
Her not knowing all the while.

The tears that fall down her face.
His only way to be a part.
Her memories of how it used to be.
His only way to touch her heart.

So when you walk and feel the rain,
Take a moment to think
of where the tears are from.
When you look up at night
And see the moon shining bright,
Think of us and all our love
For I am thinking of you
My beautiful, long lost love.

The tears of a lonely moon
From a broken heart they fall.
A lover lost, but never forgot.
Become the rain and life for us all.
